From his adolescent years of playing various instruments, a visit to the workshop of luthier Contavalli in Imola sparked his initial interest in crafting instruments. Embarking on a self-taught journey, Giancarlo delved deep into the nuances of guitar construction, visiting museums and studying the works of historic luthiers. Invited to major exhibitions across Italy and delivering lectures on lutherie, he enriched his expertise through interactions with numerous musicians. Today, his instruments resonate in Italy and beyond, gracing the hands of conservatory professors and award-winning concert artists.
