Überblick
Fritz Ober was born in Rosenheim in 1955 and learned to play the guitar at an early age. He built his first instruments in the 70's based on guitar building books. Later he trained with the instrument maker Helmut Buchsteiner and initially concentrated on the construction of lutes. According to his own statements, the skills he acquired were decisive for his current approach to guitar making, which was inspired above all by old masters such as Antonio de Torres. His workshop is located in Munich.
Built in July 2017, this guitar is once again a wonderful example of Fritz Ober's craftsmanship. The three-piece back is made of a beautifully grained CITES-certified Brazilian rosewood. The very thinly worked spruce top has a charming grain and responds very directly. The sound of this Fritz Ober is reminiscent of guitars from old days and at the same time fulfils today's expectations of power and playability. It is harmonically very balanced and has a wonderfully singing treble with a full overtone spectrum. The basses sound lively and warm. This guitar is versatile, and a wonderful example of how visual and tonal aesthetics can be combined.
