Nils Schebesta is part of the new generation of German luthiers and has quickly gained recognition for his craftsmanship. After completing his training as a plucked-instrument maker and studying guitar making in Markneukirchen, he refined his skills through internships and workshops. Since 2019, he has run his own workshop in Leipzig, blending elements of German and French traditions. His guitars are known for precise workmanship, balanced tonal character, and modern features such as the elevated fingerboard. Musicians value his instruments for their playability and rich, expressive sound.

After completing his training as a stringed-instrument maker, he continued his education in guitar making in Markneukirchen, one of Europe’s most renowned centers for musical instrument craftsmanship.

Learning Beyond Formal Training

Formal studies were only the beginning for Schebesta. Eager to learn from experienced artisans, he attended numerous workshops and internships to refine and expand his skills. This dedication to continuous growth laid the foundation for his development as an accomplished luthier.

The Leipzig Workshop

Before founding his own workshop in Leipzig in early 2019, Schebesta worked closely with a violin maker, gaining valuable insights into instrument construction and restoration. This broadened his understanding of the many disciplines within the world of stringed instruments.

In his workshop today, Schebesta creates instruments that combine German and French traditions. This blend results in guitars with excellent playability and refined tonal characteristics.

Innovative Features

Among his notable modern design elements is the use of elevated fingerboards, which improve access to the upper registers. This feature demonstrates his forward-thinking approach and awareness of the technical needs of contemporary musicians.
