Nils Schebesta – 2023 No. 29

Overview

Nils Schebesta is a talented young guitar maker who started his apprenticeship as a luthier ten years ago. After finishing his apprenticeship, he studied guitar making in Markneukirchen and refined his skills during various internships and workshops. Before he moved into his workshop in Leipzig at the beginning of 2019, he worked for a violin maker for several years. From his workshop, he builds instruments inspired by both the German and French tradition.

This Nils Schebesta guitar, No. 29, is an avant-garde concert instrument designed with a fresh and inventive approach. Created with a dedication to innovation and quality, this guitar is built for the modern performer seeking a unique musical experience. The guitar's body is constructed from spruce for the top and Indian rosewood for the back and sides, a traditional yet effective pairing of tonewoods. The spruce top delivers a vibrant, responsive tone, while the Indian rosewood back and sides add a warm, full-bodied resonance to the overall sound. This instrument bears the mark of masterful craftsmanship, with careful attention to detail visible in the beautifully crafted purfling and rosette. Each feature is meticulously designed and executed, adding a layer of visual sophistication complemented by the guitar's tonal excellence. The sound produced by this Schebesta is a testament to its exceptional construction. The guitar delivers crisp, resonant basses that effortlessly contrast with the sweet, airy treble notes, making every note a delight for the ears. This auditory experience and the guitar’ make it a genuine pleasure to play. The guitar's playability is further enhanced by a thoughtfully shaped neck designed for optimal comfort and ease of movement. This allows for smoother transitions and more precise articulation, satisfying the demands of the most discerning players. The guitar's soundboard is reinforced with five fan braces, each meticulously tuned to ensure a balanced tone and facilitate right-hand playability. This bracing system helps control the vibration of the soundboard, influencing the guitar's tone and response. These fan braces contribute to the instrument's exceptional balance and playability by harmonizing the guitar's structural stability and sonic properties.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
