Ennio Giovanetti – Guitar Maker
Ennio Giovanetti began building classical concert guitars in 1998 after enrolling at the School of Guitar Making in Milan, driven by the desire to create something unique. By attending various luthier workshops, he quickly developed a deep appreciation for an instrument he had once considered insignificant. He discovered the vast expressive and tonal possibilities of the guitar and, while mastering the fundamental principles of construction, entered a world with seemingly endless dimensions.
His journey led him from historical instruments by Torres, Hauser, and Simplicio to exploring luthiers of all eras – from the earliest to the most contemporary. His goal was to understand the origins of the ideas and intuitions that shaped the guitar as we know it today, and to imagine how these could be carried forward. The challenge lay in applying these insights to his own instruments. Ultimately, however, his philosophy cannot be fully expressed in words – only his guitars can truly speak for him.
Each instrument he builds is the result of meticulous and precise craftsmanship, allowing him to oversee every stage of the process. Combined with selected, well-seasoned tonewoods, this approach ensures a consistently high level of structural and acoustic quality. Giovanetti uses only natural glues and varnishes derived from mature resins. Furthermore, the tonewoods he chooses come exclusively from naturally grown, non-plantation sources, ensuring organic and unforced development – a key factor for both tone and aesthetics.
Through his philosophy, Ennio Giovanetti aims to create a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation in every instrument, enriching the sonic and visual experience for each musician who encounters his guitars.
