Marco Gilioli - 2024 No. 58 REG 2024 Limited Edition

Marco Gilioli - 2024 No. 58 REG 2024 Limited Edition

Overview

Marco Gilioli is a very talented Italian luthier based near Milan, Italy. His instruments are built according to the traditional Spanish method, focusing on both the sound and the needs of the guitarist. A sweet, soft, and well-balanced tone, with deep basses and clear trebles, characterizes his guitars. Playability and sound projection are also very important for Marco. As a result, his instruments are very charming, easy to play, and suitable for concert players as well as for amateurs of fine guitars.

Guitar #58 – Limited Edition was crafted especially for the Roma Expo Guitars 2024 event, designed to showcase not only the culmination of Marco Gilioli's research into personal sound but also to highlight his capabilities in achieving aesthetic elegance at the highest level. This guitar represents a unique and special addition to the event, embodying a distinct expression of Marco's luthiery skills. Inspired by the renowned work of Antonio de Torres, this instrument deviates from the traditional Spanish construction methods. By adopting a specialized process, Marco created a guitar that is free from internal tensions, resulting in a remarkably loud, light, and high-performing instrument, which pushes the boundaries of traditional guitar making.

The selection of materials for this guitar was meticulous, choosing only the finest quality to enhance its performance and appearance. The Swiss Spruce soundboard features deep medullary rays and pronounced grain, supported by seven braces without a bridge plate, optimizing its acoustic properties. The back is constructed from three pieces of Indian Rosewood, chosen from wood seasoned for over 70 years, noted for its extreme lightness and rigidity, which contribute to the guitar's resonant qualities. The neck is crafted from Red Cedar, paired with an ebony fingerboard. Attention to aesthetics was paramount; the rosette is adorned with a central, hand-crafted mosaic based on a design specifically created for this guitar, surrounded by a complementary hand-made mosaic that echoes the purfling on the top. With a string length of 650mm and a finish of shellac, this guitar is not just an instrument but a masterpiece, offering modern playability and voluminous sound while staying true to the roots of classical guitar craftsmanship. It promises to unveil its richer tones and deeper colors the more it is played, making it a joy for any musician.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
