Lisa Weinzierl - 2022 No. 58

Lisa Weinzierl - 2022 No. 58

Overview

Lisa Weinzierl is one of the most talented luthiers of the new generation. After her training as a guitar maker at the renowned instrument-making school in Mittenwald, she gained experience with many established guitar makers such as Gernot Wagner, Andreas Kirschner, Gert Esmyol, Peter Ziegler, Christopher Schuetz, and Leo Sprenger. With her master craftsman diploma in plucked instrument making, Lisa received a gold medal and the master craftsman award from the Bavarian state government. Lisa is currently working for the London instrument and bow makers W.E. Hill and Sons under the direction of Stefan-Peter Greiner and Robert Brewer Young. In this creative and vibrant workshop, she builds her guitars.

Some guitars are genuinely unique, and this is one of them. The craftsmanship that Lisa Weinzierl displays is simply impressive. Considering how much work she puts into each of her instruments makes it easy to understand why her annual production run is limited to just a few guitars. French polished at the highest level, Lisa’s guitars show elaborate traditional bracing, a raised fingerboard, a beautifully rounded neck with a German “V” joint, and premium quality German-made Scheller tuners. Hand-made and almost without the use of machines, her guitars are absolute gems.

This guitar is a blend of poetry and performance. The delicacy of the tone and the overall elegance of the sound of this instrument are simply inspiring. It is one of those rare immersive and downright seductive guitars that make the player forget the outside world and will not let go as soon as the first note is played. Due to its F main resonance, it has beautiful deep and dark basses. Nevertheless, it is an exceptionally balanced instrument that few guitar builders can achieve with such a low-resonance guitar. Furthermore, the impressive volume that this traditional guitar develops makes it a fantastic concert instrument. The high playing comfort for the left hand and the easy control for the right hand provide a high level of security for the player and make it a perfect companion for stage performances and relaxed playing at home.

Lisa Weinzierl 2022 Classical Guitar review
CRAZY SOUNDING GUITARS | The Weekly Guitar Meeting #30 - Lisa Weinzierl, T. Braun, S. Eden

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
