Daniel Friederich was born on the sixteenth of January 1932. Although he had a strong desire to play the guitar, he lacked money. But at the age of 23, Friederich solved this dilemma by building his first guitar himself: a copy of a Simplicio guitar. Daniel’s guitar teacher and excellent guitar maker, Christian Aubin, was a great help to him. After building tools and gaining some experience in guitar making, Daniel Friederich showed his fifteenth guitar to Robert Bouchet. Since then, Robert Bouchet has inspired his work, and Daniel Friederich has personally developed some of R. Bouchet’s ideas throughout his career.
For decades, Daniel Friederich was one of the most important and respected active luthiers in the world. After a long and successful career, he stopped making guitars in 2015 and sold all his tools. Today, he is undoubtedly one of the most respected and admired guitar makers in history.
This guitar number 657 is an unbelievable instrument in close to pristine condition built by Daniel Friederich in 1989. Coming straight from the first owner's family, it a unique chance to acquire a first-hand instrument from the legendary Parisian luthier. The end of the 80s is for sure the most sought-after period of Daniel Friederich's production. He brought his concept at the peak of its maturity in this era: building light-weight, highly responsive, and dramatically colorful cedar guitars that are now acknowledged as being the supreme concert instrument.
A very close and thorough inspection reveals only some limited superficial playing marks on the top. Besides these derisory signs, this guitar is in excellent condition. Moreover, all the original documents are provided with the guitar: two handwritten letters witnessing the single-owner history of the guitar, the original “guitar-hoodie" to protect the guitar from body heat while playing. It is an ultimate concertist and collector guitar in outstanding condition, and most of all, a superlative sounding instrument.
