Daniele Chiesa – Guitar Maker
Daniele Chiesa began playing both classical and jazz guitar at the age of 12. This early musical foundation paved the way for his later career in lutherie. In 1994, he enrolled at the International School of Violin Making in Cremona, where he learned the traditional techniques of stringed instrument construction. During this period, he also repaired and built guitars in his own workshop. He graduated in 1998.
In 1999, he moved to Santa Cruz, California, to apprentice with Kenny Hill, gaining deep insight into traditional Spanish guitar making. After returning to Italy, he collaborated with classical guitarist and guitar maker Paolo Viscardi. Around the year 2000, he spent a year in Tom Ribbecke’s workshop in Healdsburg, California, crafting archtop, semi-hollow, and steel-string guitars, while also working for Luthier’s Mercantile.
He later joined Allied Lutherie, where he worked extensively with Brazilian rosewood and other high-grade tonewoods. In 2002, he traveled to Córdoba, Spain, to further refine his craft under master guitar maker Francisco Santiago Marín.
Today, Daniele Chiesa lives and works in Granada. His concert guitars combine traditional Spanish construction, personal artistic style, and meticulous craftsmanship. Each instrument reflects his musical background and the extensive international experience he has gathered throughout his career.
