Walter Verreydt - 2023 Lattice

Walter Verreydt - 2023 Lattice

Overview

Walter Verreydt built his first guitars in 1985. He was primarily a woodworking teacher, and his love for music led him to make his first guitar and become a luthier. Since 1988 Walter teaches classical guitar making at the “Centrum voor Muziekinstrumentenbouw” in Puurs (Belgium). He studied many guitars of famous luthiers like Ignacio Fleta, Robert Bouchet, Hernandez y Aguado, and many more. His excellent relationships with Daniel Friederich and José Romanillos helped him in the development of his own ideas. His guitars are handmade in the Spanish tradition, and every instrument is the product of his personal growth and ongoing studies.

This Walter Verreydt guitar, with its lattice bracing, stands as a grandiose achievement in the realm of concert instruments, exuding sophistication and completeness in every aspect. The guitar's exceptional sonority and response set it apart, but it's the breadth of tonal colors that truly captivates and inspires. Each note played on this guitar resonates with a unique vibrancy, offering a spectrum of sound that is both vast and nuanced. The first E-string, in particular, is remarkable for its liveliness and freedom, allowing it to express its singing voice with impressive ease. This quality makes the guitar not only a joy to play but also a versatile instrument, capable of handling a wide range of musical styles and expressions with finesse. It should also be emphasized that the sides of this guitar are reinforced with a double layer of cypress, enhancing its structural integrity and significantly boosting its sound projection.

The overall balance and sustain of this Verreydt guitar are equally noteworthy, enhancing its standing as a top-tier instrument. The excellent playability of the guitar, facilitated by its well-considered design and build, ensures that it can be played comfortably for extended periods, making it ideal for both practice and performance. The meticulous attention to detail in its construction and the quality of materials used contribute to its exceptional sound and playability. This Verreydt guitar is special in every respect, highly recommended for any player seeking a superior and inspiring instrument.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
