Walter Verreydt - 2008 Lattice

Walter Verreydt - 2008 Lattice

Overview

Walter Verreydt built his first guitars in 1985. He was primarily a woodworking teacher, and his love for music led him to make his first guitar and become a luthier. Since 1988 Walter teaches classical guitar making at the "Centrum voor Muziekinstrumentenbouw" in Puurs (Belgium). He studied many guitars of famous luthiers like Ignacio Fleta, Robert Bouchet, Hernandez y Aguado, and many more. His excellent relationships with Daniel Friederich and José Romanillos helped him in the development of his own ideas. His guitars are handmade in the Spanish tradition, and every instrument is the product of his personal growth and ongoing studies.

What a great classical guitar. This 2008 Lattice braced instrument develops an impressive volume of sound, and its response is also astonishing. This masterpiece of refinement and elegance is relatively lightly built and has an exquisite appearance. Two hairline cracks on the top and one on the back have been professionally repaired and are barely noticeable. Some playing marks are visible on the top, but the finish has been recently refreshed, so this instrument is now ready for a new life.

The sound of this guitar is generous, complex and honest. With its immense projection and solid first string, it is an instrument that can be used for concertizing, playing with chamber ensembles, and doing everything that can be done with a classical guitar at the highest level. The neck is very comfortable, the string action is ideal. This allows the player's left hand to move very naturally. It is a guitar that you should definitely try if you are looking for a first class classical guitar.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
