Overview

About the luthier

Vincent Humml is a German luthier from the new generation. Having started his apprenticeship as a plucked instrument maker nine years ago, he studied guitar making in Markneukirchen and refined his skills during various internships and workshops. He established his workshop in Chemnitz, Germany, after receiving the very demanding “Meister” title in lutherie in 2019. Vincent’s guitars are a blend of contemporary design and exceptional craftsmanship, embodying a modern approach to guitar construction while maintaining the rich, traditional sound that classical guitarists seek. His mastery of the double-top technique allows him to create instruments that boast immense power without sacrificing the rich and elegant tonal qualities that are the hallmark of great classical guitars. The visual appeal of his guitars is equally striking, characterized by a purity and refinement in design. Every aspect, from the precise construction to the tasteful aesthetics, demonstrates Vincent’s commitment to excellence. His status as one of the elite luthiers of the new generation is further underscored by his choice of high-quality materials and components, including Scheller tuners and immaculate French polish, ensuring each guitar is a testament to his uncompromising standards.

About the guitar

This beautiful guitar by Vincent Humml is distinguished by its dark, resonant trebles, powerful volume, fast response, and excellent playability—all qualities expected from a high-level German-style double-top guitar.

Thanks to its 64 cm scale length, the guitar is extremely comfortable to play, even over extended periods. Notably, it is also very forgiving on the right hand—even with less-than-perfect fingernails, it is nearly impossible to produce bad tones, making it a highly approachable instrument for a wide range of players.

In terms of volume, the guitar is versatile and powerful, easily handling anything from solo performances to chamber music. It offers a well-balanced sound between the basses and trebles, with trebles that have excellent sustain, making it particularly well-suited for slow, expressive repertoire.

Additionally, the tone is very easy to shape, especially through vibrato, giving the player a high degree of expressive control and tonal flexibility.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
