Overview

The Vicente Carrillo Grand Concert “Gabriela II” is a modern concert guitar that blends Spanish tradition with contemporary innovation. Built with a striking set of Madagascar rosewood, double sides and a refined double-top design, it delivers bold volume, great projection and a richly textured tone. The asymmetrical bridge enhances both aesthetic and acoustic balance, while the titanium truss rod introduced in the 2025 models ensures long-term neck stability even under extreme climate conditions, without adding weight or altering tonal character. With its warm voice, impressive sustain on the first string and remarkable dynamic range, the Gabriela II is a highly expressive and inspiring instrument crafted for demanding performers.

More details about the guitar

The Carrillo family started building guitars 1744 in “Manchuela Conquense” also called Casasimarro. As far back as the 19th century, the town was nicknamed “El pueblo de las Guitarras” the town of the guitars. The instruments are still being built in the same place by Vicente Carrillo the seventh generation luthier of the family. Vicente Carrillo was awarded the ”Regional Craftsmanship award” in 2009 and also the ”National Award” in 2010. His guitars all have a special sound, reaching a satisfying balance between bearing basses and sweet trebles. Innovation is always a factor in his workshop, utilizing various different construction techniques, therefore being in the constant progression towards a greater understanding of the art of lutherie. Artists who play and have played guitars built by Vicente Carrillo are among others: Paco de Lucía, Tomatito, J.M. Cañizarez, El Niño Josele, Rafael Cañizares, Javier Limón, Keith Richards & Josemi Carmona (Ketama). Vicente Carrillo's Grand Concert model "Gabriela II" is an exceptionally striking instrument and this specific guitar is made with a remarkably beautiful set of Madagascar rosewood. A very modern design, including an asymmetrical bridge and a double top, combines Spanish tradition with modern guitar making. In addition, double sides round out the contemporary and refined construction of this finely attuned guitar. The new 2025 models incorporate a titanium truss rod that ensures neck stability even in the harshest atmospheric conditions, such as very dry or humid climates. The choice of titanium results in minimal weight gain without impacting the sound characteristics of the instrument. In terms of sound, the bold volume and richly textured tone are impressive. A particularly pleasing feature of this instrument is the almost infinite seeming sustain of the first string, which, combined with the noteworthy warmth of the tone, results in a masterful and inspiring instrument. • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
