Stephen Eden - 2024 Cadenza No. 158

Stephen Eden - 2024 Cadenza No. 158

Overview

Stephen got his first acoustic guitar at 18, after having been passionately into music for many years. He attended evening classes by Master Luthier Stephen Hill in 2004, which inspired him into guitar making. Soon after, Stephen apprenticed at the workshop of Pablo Requena for two years, where he received a great foundation of knowledge and skills that he continues to put to use today. Stephen finally set up his first workshop in 2008. He has enjoyed building guitars for many professional guitarists, such as Paul Gregory, Juan Martin, Peter Stuart, Sean Shibe, Ian Watt, Andrew Gough, Allan Neave, Gaëlle Solall, Pavel Ralev, Bridget Mermikides, and Mark Eden.

The Cadenza model emerges as a groundbreaking solution in the realm of concert-quality guitars, striking a perfect balance between affordability and performance. This model is a deliberate effort to democratize access to high-caliber instruments, focusing on delivering exceptional sound quality and playability while eschewing costly decorative features that do not contribute to the musicality of the guitar. By adhering to the design principles and construction techniques used in standard concert models, the Cadenza employs the same superior woods and craftsmanship, ensuring that players receive an instrument of uncompromised quality. Initially designed to support talented students in need of a professional-grade guitar without the steep price, the Cadenza has exceeded expectations, distinguishing itself not merely as an entry-level option but as a genuine concert instrument capable of standing up to the demands of professional performance.

What truly distinguishes the Cadenza is its exceptional playability and the clarity it brings to the separation of trebles and basses, producing a sound that is both clear and resonant. This distinct quality ensures that the instrument can project a rich, captivating sound, appealing to audiences and satisfying the diverse requirements of musicians across various genres. The Cadenza's prioritization of core performance attributes over ornamental aspects makes it a prime choice for musicians at different phases of their career, offering a professional playing experience to those aspiring to concert-level artistry. The Cadenza stands as a beacon of innovation, proving that it is entirely possible to own a performance-ready guitar that encourages artistic development and expression without imposing a heavy financial burden, making it a valuable asset for emerging artists and seasoned performers alike.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
