Stefan Nitschke - 2022 "Romanillos" La Vincenta

Stefan Nitschke - 2022 "Romanillos" La Vincenta

Overview

Having apprenticed under the esteemed Gerhard Oldiges, Stefan Nitschke has over the past 15 years carved a niche for himself in the world of lutherie, building guitars that are not just instruments, but art forms. His works resonate with the influence of the great masters of the 19th and 20th centuries — figures like Antonio de Torres, Francisco Simplicio, and Santos Hernandez. The echoes of their genius can be discerned in the delicate sounds of Nitschke’s guitars and the sheer artistry of his craftsmanship.

With his latest creation, Stefan has taken inspiration from the illustrious work of Jose Romanillos, a maestro known for his dedication to the Torres and Hauser styles. This new masterpiece is not a mere replication but a heartfelt homage to Romanillos.

A signature feature of Romanillos' guitars, the "Moorish" arch, is meticulously echoed in the rosette, bridge, headshape, and inlays of Stefan's instrument, preserving the classic elegance. Beyond aesthetics, Stefan integrates structural nuances of Romanillos’ work, prominently the open harmonic bar system accentuated with four distinct struts beneath.

Named "La Vincenta", this guitar is a testament to Nitschke’s meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. The bearclaw spruce top, characterized by its captivating grain, marries harmoniously with the vibrantly hued CITES certified Brazilian rosewood, producing a visual spectacle. Further enhancing its allure is the amber finish, bestowing the guitar with a vintage charm devoid of wear marks.

Sonically, "La Vincenta" is a revelation. Its tonal character can best be described as a mirror to its visual grandeur – warm, expansive, and remarkably vibrant. Stefan has successfully encapsulated the essence of aged Romanillos instruments from the '70s and '80s, known for their played-in resonance. The guitar offers a harmonious blend of warmth and clarity, balancing the lyrical trebles with robust basses, producing a sound that's both intimate and grand.

This cherished instrument, showing signs of being lovingly played, boasts a Brazilian rosewood back that exhibits two superficial cracks. These, however, have been expertly mended, rendering them nearly imperceptible to the naked eye. Beyond this minor testament to its history, the guitar remains in impeccable, mint condition, resonating with the pristine care it has received over the years. It stands as a testament to the resilience of expert craftsmanship and the enduring beauty of well-maintained wood.

We're genuinely elated to be in association with such a gifted craftsman and to have the privilege of presenting his outstanding work.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
