So Kimishima - 2022 Stella Spruce 64 cm

So Kimishima - 2022 Stella Spruce 64 cm

Overview

So Kimishima is the grandson of legendary Japanese luthier Masaru Kohno. He worked for Masaki Sakurai for the past 15 years until he finally decided to create his own models, which are part of the Kohno Guitar Manufacturing lineup. Kimishima benefits from the research and experience of Masaru Kohno and Masaki Sakurai to continue the quality of their guitars but also to challenge new techniques and develop new models. Like any other excellent craftsman, Kimishima pays particular attention to the details and finish of the guitar.
Stella is So Kimishima's model, mainly based on the great guitars of Masaru Kohno from the 50s and 60s. The beautiful spruce soundboard of this guitar is reinforced with six fan braces underneath and decorated with a very beautifully designed Kimishima's signature rosette. So Kimishima selected the beautiful Indian rosewood as the wood of choice for the back and sides, complimenting this instrument's overall look. As with all instruments from Kohno Guitar Manufacturing, this guitar displays perfect execution of craftsmanship to the highest standard. Moreover, it also has a very charming tonal quality with an incredible balance throughout its voicings. Combined with the 64 cm scale and excellent playability, this guitar is a joy to play.

The Most UNDERRATED Guitar? The Weekly Guitar Meeting #37 | Ramin, Sakurai, Kimishima

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
