Overview
Sebastian Stenzel has been making guitars since 1989, when he began his apprenticeship at Gert Esmyol's workshop. He completed this apprenticeship in 1991 and focused on developing his own guitar model. In 1996, he finally opened his own workshop in Munich. Shortly afterwards, in 1998, he was awarded the Bavarian Government's Master's Prize as part of his Master's degree. As a professor of "theory of guitar making”, he has been teaching at the Mozarteum in Salzburg since 2002. Since 2011, he has been working in his workshop in Emmendingen. In accordance with Sebastian Stenzel's ideal sound, he builds guitars that “have sonorous, floating basses, a warm, creamy mid-range and lyrical, singing trebles. The sound should offer the musician all possibilities of sound shaping and dynamics, without being obtrusive.” (Quote: S. Stenzel)
All Stenzel guitars have a unique neck and fingerboard shape yielding considerable benefits for playability and giving the guitarist more freedom to focus attention on the music. The construction of his instruments is thought out in the minutest detail. The top is made of spruce while back and sides are made of Madagascar Rosewood. This guitar is in perfect condition with no playing marks, although it has been played passionately for the past two years. Only a small mark under the bridge is visible, due to the sliding of the first string. This mark has been perfectly repaired and is barely visible.
The sound of this guitar is superb, very powerful and colorful with a great projection. It is really a very pleasant guitar to play, which will satisfy both an amateur and a demanding professional.
