Sebastian Stenzel - 2011

Sebastian Stenzel - 2011

Overview

Sebastian Stenzel has been making guitars since 1989, when he began his apprenticeship at Gert Esmyol’s workshop. He completed this apprenticeship in 1991 and focused on developing his guitar model. In 1996, he finally opened his workshop in Munich. Shortly afterward, in 1998, he was awarded the Bavarian Government’s Master’s Prize for his master’s degree. As a “guitar-making theory” professor, he has taught at the Mozarteum in Salzburg since 2002. Since 2011, he has been working in his workshop in Emmendingen. Following his ideal of sound, he builds guitars that “have sonorous, floating basses, a warm, creamy mid-range and lyrical, singing trebles. The sound should offer the musician all possibilities of sound shaping and dynamics, without being obtrusive.” (Quote: S. Stenzel) Sebastian Stenzel’s guitars are outstanding works of art. They possess all the essential elements to be considered “the best guitar ever played.” His guitars are built with the highest precision of craftsmanship and artistic acoustic quality, which makes them one-of-a-kind instruments to play and look at.

This 2011 guitar is a standout instrument, echoing the esteemed characteristics of a Hermann Hauser guitar with its exceptional balance, rich tonal colors, and crystal-clear clarity, yet it offers an enhanced volume and projection that adapts flawlessly to any playing environment. Its responsiveness to the right-hand touch is impressive, allowing for expressive and dynamic playing. The guitar is crafted with a comfortably shaped neck that contributes to its superb playability, making it a dream for any guitarist. It also features elegant Rodgers tuners, which complement its refined aesthetic. As a pre-loved instrument, the guitar is in excellent condition bearing only minimal superficial playing wear, except a tiny string mark behind the bridge, which is very common.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
