Roy Fankhänel - Special Edition 2017

Roy Fankhänel - Special Edition 2017

Overview

Roy Fankhänel’s workshop is located in Oelsnitz, Germany. There, he builds marvelous classical guitars in very close colaboration with his customers.
This beautiful guitar, finished in August 2017, was designed in cooperation with Siccas Guitars. The harmonic matching of the woods and the decorative details give the instrument a precious appearance. The bear claw top is handsomely grained and the back and sides are made of exquisite Caribbean rosewood. The binding, rosette and bridge show recurring classy elements of green, brown and black lines, and the marvelously worked wave-like end of the fingerboard over the rosette matches the rounded wooden tuning pegs perfectly. To simplify barré, the fingerboard is horizontally arched, and furthermore raised to enable the easy use of higher frets. In fact, the playability is amazing. It is a stunning concert guitar that can fill great auditoriums as well as smaller intimate concert halls. Its generous sound is projected to the back door with great ease and comfort for the player as well as for the audience. These qualities are truly special for a freshly built spruce top guitar and are one of Roy’s great achievements. This guitar allows great dynamics, from cello to harpsichord and from whole orchestra to single singer. This is a great instrument that will blossom in the hands of a committed guitarist. The tuners are made by Rubner. A Hiscox Pro II hard-shell case is included.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
