Overview
This splendid baroque guitar by Richard Jacob Weissgerber was originally planned as a Biedermeier-model. The top is made of nut-brown stained spruce wood and is framed by a purfling of fruit wood and another component which is most probably galalith. The same arrangement can be found around the sound hole. The back is made in one piece and consists, just like the ribs as well, of a fine grained bird’s eye maple. The fingerboard is embedded in the guitar’s top and an even surface is achieved.
The construction of this wonderful double-course baroque guitar with ten strings started in 1918 and was finished in the 1930’s.
