Rafal Turkowiak was born in Golanice near Leszno, Poland, on 9 January 1966. His father, a carpenter, and grandfather, a wheelwright, had a great influence on him in the field of carpentry and wood technology. Twenty years of guitar-making and experimenting with a very scientific and modern approach brought him to develop construction concepts improving the resonance of the guitar: the “WAVE” structure.
This brand new 2022 Rafal Turkowiak no. 474 is a distinctive guitar both in sound and appearance. It has a cedar double top, combined with back and sides made of amboyna wood. Amboyna does not refer specifically to the type of wood, but to the root wood of a certain species of Pterocarpus. The name is derived from the island of Ambon in Indonesia, where it is believed that much of the strikingly grained wood was originally exported. It is considered one of the most valuable and sought-after root woods available. This particular Turkoviak has been crafted with the utmost care and is superbly tonally balanced, making it a perfect musical instrument for a wide variety of needs. This exceptional instrument has many modern features that enhance the acoustic quality and playability, such as the "Acoustic tube" inside the neck, which makes the neck play a more significant role in the overall resonance of the guitar.
