Michael Brey - 2020

Michael Brey - 2020

Overview

Michael Brey, born in 1966, initially learned his craft from Peter Barton in the years 1994 to 1996. Nowadays he lives and works in the beautiful Chiemgau region of Bavaria and has completely dedicated himself to the traditional Spanish guitar in the style of Antonio de Torres and Santos Hernandez, without just copying them, however. A distinctive feature of his guitars is a stabilizing brace between the heel of the neck and the end block, which reduces the tension on the soundboard and the back in order to enhance the sustain.
This beautiful guitar built-in 2020 comes straight from Michael Brey's workshop. It has a very charming design with an alpine spruce top and a maple back and sides. This instrument shows abundant small marquetry details that make it a really charming guitar. The rosette, for example, is a subtle combination of wood fillets in contrasting colors and fine inlays. The guitar has a very appealing warm sound, with clear trebles and well-supporting basses. Thanks to the 64.4 cm scale length and the slightly narrower saddle, this instrument is very easy to play and is both dynamic and sensitive. It is surprisingly powerful in sound and the somewhat small shape of this guitar gives a real feeling of control over the instrument. Due to the easy to find voice colors this Michael Brey guitar offers a wide range of possibilities. Thus it is altogether a comfortable and very versatile classical guitar.

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
