Max Amberger - 1923

Max Amberger - 1923

Overview

This guitar comes from the Max Amberger workshop and was manufactured in 1923. Max Amberger himself had lived from 1838 until 1889 and was a Munich instrument maker. His company, which was founded around 1860, concentrated mainly on the construction of violins, guitars and zithers. After his death his son, Henry Amberger, took charge of his father’s company and later, when the son died as well, H. Amberger’s widow continued to operate the business. In the year 1921 the company was taken over by Hermann Hauser ® I. The top of this wappen guitar is made of German spruce wood. The bridge is not original. The two-piece back and the sides are made of beech wood. A hardshell case is included.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
