Overview
Masaki Sakurai, the nephew of the great Japanese master luthier Masaru Kohno, was born in 1944. He studied electrical engineering at Sophia University and became part of ” Kohno Guitar Manufacturing” in 1967, after graduation. In 1988, he won the prestigious first prize at the Fourth International Paris Guitar Making Competition. Masaki Sakurai’s guitars are of impeccable craftsmanship and are known for their easy playability and great volume of sound.
The 1976 Masaki Sakurai model 8 is an excellent choice for those seeking a high-quality concert guitar at an accessible price point. It delivers exceptional value, particularly when considering its impressive performance capabilities. This guitar is highly versatile, offering a responsive and dynamic playing experience that suits a range of playing situations. Its clear, vibrant trebles contribute to a rich and expressive sound, while its responsiveness to the player’s touch ensures a reliable and enjoyable experience, whether in practice or on stage. As a pre-loved instrument, it remains in very good condition, showing normal playing wear and some small nicks on the top, that do not affect the long term durability of the instrument.
