Lorenzo Frignani - Manuel Ramirez 2016

Lorenzo Frignani - Manuel Ramirez 2016

Overview

Lorenzo Frignani began his professional career in 1986 and has dealt with construction and restoration of stringed and plucked instruments for over thirty years. He received numerous honors and awards for his musical instruments in Italy and around the world. In addition to his work as a luthier, he is deeply involved in many other aspects of the international music community. He has trained many students, today affirmed luthiers. He was a member of several juries in international competitions such as Baveno and Pisogne in Italy and works as an expert consultant for insurance companies such Assicurarte (Cremona) and AXA ART. Furthermore, he is Vice President of the association ALI Professionals (Italian Association of Violin Makers Professionals) and has been member of ALADFI (French Bow Makers Association) for ten years.
Every instrument constructed in Lorenzo Frignani's workshop is made of the highest quality seasoned woods, as for example this special 1910 Manuel Ramirez copy. The original is part of his private collection. Lorenzo's goal is to build a guitar that is as close to the original as possible regarding construction and quality of sound. He enjoys to copy original guitars and to create a sound that is rare these days. This new Manuel Ramirez copy has a spruce top and Indian Rosewood back and sides. The French-polish finish was “aged” to give the instrument a used look. The craftsmanship is impressive and shows the love for every detail. The sound is lovely and comes extremely close to the original instrument – it has a beautiful warm old world sound. Hear and see our video that we recorded with this guitar to get an impression and feeling of this magnificent instrument. As tuning machines Lorenzo Frignani has chosen Alessi tuners, which fit aesthetically very well with the instrument. A Hiscox Pro II case is included.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
