What a guitar! Now, how often does one see a bear-claw spruce top like this? It is of exceptional quality and gives this guitar a particular value and unique look. Moreover, the Indian rosewood set used for back and sides is so distinctive through its color and figuration. It is simply beautiful and, given the quality, colour and grain, could just as easily be Brazilian rosewood.
Lorenzo Frignani found inspiration for this wonderful instrument number 248 in the guitars of David Rubio. Using Rubio’s plantilla and ideal of sound, he adapted the internal construction and opted for a traditional “x-bracing”, the hallmark of Lorenzo Frignani’s guitars. Finally, the mother of pearl dots in the rosette and headstock and the many refined marquetry details make this instrument a true gem.

The sound exhibits a great overall balance, with deep and rich basses. It is well attuned to the richness of tone color but does not compromise the tonal vigor and lightness of playing. The treble sings beautifully and overall, the character of this Italian masterpiece is reminiscent of guitars from days long gone, which may be in no small part due to Lorenzo Frignani’s large collection of antique guitars; a unique sonic universe full of inspiration for a knowledgeable master luthier of his class.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
