José Ramirez - 1983 1a No. 17518

Overview

Since 1882, the Ramirez family has been crafting the most exquisite guitars. Their masterful instruments have been and continue to be played by music legends such as Julian Bream, Andres Segovia, Laurindo Almeida, Oscar Ghiglia, and José Luis Gonzales. Spanning five generations, the Ramirez dynasty has significantly shaped the history of classical guitar-making, starting with José Ramirez I, who trained numerous talented luthiers in his workshop.

José Ramirez III revolutionized guitar craftsmanship, particularly through his pioneering work with cedarwood tops. Under his direction, a new instrument was developed in the 1960s with a Western Red Cedar top and double sides. This innovative approach, coupled with the endorsement of Andrés Segovia, quickly influenced global guitar construction.

This 1983 Ramirez 1A epitomizes guitar craftsmanship. It is a tribute to the harmonious union of artistry and sound quality and holds a special place in the legacy of the iconic luthier. Crafted from the finest Indian rosewood, it exudes an elegance that impresses both visually and acoustically. Its cedar top accentuates its sonorous beauty, producing a rich and lively tone reminiscent of traditional flamenco guitars.

Despite being four decades old, this 1983 Ramirez 1A remains in remarkably good condition, showing only light signs of play and no structural flaws. A unique feature is the number "18″ stamped beneath the cedar top, attesting to the handiwork of Manuel Alonso Giménez and adding an additional layer of historical depth to this instrument.

The 1983 Ramirez 1A delivers a robust, confident sound with a swift response, making it a top choice for concert guitarists. A guitar that infuses both passion and dynamism into every performance. Let this timeless masterpiece transport you into the captivating world of classical guitar music.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
