Johanna Vogl - 2022
Overview
Overview
Johanna Vogl is a guitar maker from Berlin, Germany. She did her apprenticeship in the Musical Instrument Making School Mittenwald, where she learned the art of Spanish guitar making. Johanna then worked in the workshop of an established Berlin-based German guitar maker, Adrian Heinzelmann, where she built a lot of guitar parts, such as the back and sides, necks, bridges, and rosettes. Under the guidance of Adrian, Johanna got deep insights into modern concert classical guitar-making. Moreover, Johanna also learned how to analyze individual components using modern measuring technology and how to select and prepare them accordingly.
This beautiful instrument is a unique combination of a traditional Spanish guitar and a modern concert classical guitar. It has a traditional design that Jose L. Romanillos heavily influenced. Yet, it also features some modern elements in contemporary guitar making, such as elevated fingerboard, significant volume and projection, and excellent playability. This guitar displays Johanna's very high level of craftsmanship and artistry. The spruce soundboard was tuned to the F/F#, creating deep and hunting bass characteristics. Meanwhile, the crystal-clear trebles match the overall voicings in a charming proportion. This fine instrument is a true concert guitar that will fulfill the need of a guitarist of any level and for any concert situation.
