Overview
Overview
Jean-Noel Lebreton is a French luthier living near Avrillé in France. After successfully studying at the College of furniture in London from 1989 to 1993, he opened his first workshop in 1997. He has since specialized in double-top classical guitars, exploring the various possibilities offered by this sophisticated technique. Interestingly, he uses both Nomex core and balsa core techniques, mapping the resonant range of the top with one or the other to achieve a unique sound.
This 2024 guitar, numbered 47-197, features a double top construction with a cedar top and Indian rosewood doubled back and sides. The raised fingerboard is helpful when playing in the upper registers of the fretboard. The rich and gritty treble, coupled with tight basses, make for a powerful instrument that is by no means overwhelming but very inspiring for the guitarist.
