Overview
In 1997, Hugues had the opportunity to enroll in a luthier course focused on the craftsmanship of lute-family instruments. Although the course was brief, it provided him with fundamental skills in the trade. Following this training, Hugues crafted his first guitar. He continued to pursue lutherie as a hobby while completing a degree in musicology. Starting in 2008, during an extended stay abroad, Hugues decided to make lutherie his primary occupation. Over the next four years, he specialized in creating historical instruments, including lutes, Baroque and Romantic guitars, as well as a few classical guitars. Upon returning home in 2012, Hugues opened his workshop in the village of Merry La Vallée, Burgundy, where he now focuses on crafting classical guitars.
This brand new guitar crafted by Hugues Boivin exemplifies the meticulous attention to detail and artistry that defines his work. Hugues, known for his precision and perfectionism, has created a guitar that not only features tasteful decorations but also boasts precise craftsmanship. It is traditionally constructed with 7 fan bracings and a transverse bar behind the bridge. The rosette is thoughtfully chosen to complement the color of the spruce soundboard, adding to the aesthetic appeal. The use of striking Madagascar rosewood elevates the guitar's luxury and value. Acoustically, the guitar is well-balanced with the clear, even trebles characteristic of French-style guitars, and it delivers an elegant timbre that musicians will appreciate.
