Hans-Jürgen Jahreiß - 2024 No. 19

Hans-Jürgen Jahreiß - 2024 No. 19

Overview

Hans-Jürgen Jahreiss, born on November 16, 1958, in Pechbrunn, Germany, has a distinguished background in mechanical engineering, which he studied at the Technical University in Munich, becoming a graduate engineer. Since 1989, he has worked at BMW, focusing on development and technical support for motorbike chassis components and brake control systems. His journey into guitarmaking began in 2010 when he participated in a workshop led by Fritz Preuss in Reichling, Germany. His passion for guitarmaking grew through self-education and extensive reading on classical guitar construction. From 2010 to 2019, he crafted guitars as a hobbyist before officially starting his business in November 2019. To date, he has created 19 guitars, primarily focusing on classical models with Spanish design influences, though he also builds steel-string and electric guitars. One notable creation includes a classical guitar made for a professional player featuring spruce from the Munich cathedral's 15th-century roof. Jahreiss employs construction methods akin to those of Luis Romanillos and Miguel Rodriguez, using 5 or 7-fan tops, and single or double sides.

This exceptional new guitar by Hans-Jürgen Jahreiss is a remarkable example of traditional cedar craftsmanship, offering impressive volume and the rich, resonant tonal qualities characteristic of cedar soundboards. Its effortless playability makes it adaptable to various playing styles and situations. A unique feature of this instrument is its meticulously hand-crafted rosette adorned with the Persian "Boteh" pattern, showcasing Jahreiss's dedication and attention to detail. This distinctive artistic touch not only enhances the guitar's visual appeal but also reflects the luthier’s commitment to creating an instrument that is both aesthetically and sonically outstanding.

Hans Jürgen Jahreiß 2024 Classical Guitar Review

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
