Giacomo Guadagna - 2024 REG 2024 "La Venere Concerto Limited Edition"

Giacomo Guadagna - 2024 REG 2024 "La Venere Concerto Limited Edition"

Overview

Born in Sicily in 1977, Giacomo Guadagna graduated in Musicology from the University of Bologna, nurturing a lifelong passion for music, musical instruments, and ethnomusicology. In his final year of university, his interest in music deepened, leading him to explore the world of luthiery. This prompted him to pursue courses on the construction of plucked string instruments and bowed string instruments. Over the years, he continued to enhance his skills through various advanced courses. In 2007, Giacomo restored a farmhouse in Tuscany, where he lives and works, and developed his model of classical concert guitar: La Venere, a tribute to the goddess of beauty, women, and fertility. Since 2008, Giacomo has been organizing courses on building his guitar model in his workshop.

The "La Venere Concerto" guitar features a traditional 7-ray construction and is a fully original design by Giacomo Guadagna. He developed this model aiming for a perfect balance in sound, where neither the basses nor the highs dominate. Recently, Giacomo has adorned his "La Venere" with colorful, joyful details inspired by Sicilian artifacts and majolica, creating an instrument with a distinct personality that reflects his own. The "La Venere Concerto Limited Edition" includes special features: it has significant projection and volume due to its unique bracing arrangement and shape. It also has a soundport, enhancing the musician's ability to hear themselves during performances, and an adjustable saddle that allows for easy changes in string height, accommodating different musical preferences or preparing the guitar for a new owner without needing a luthier.

The REG 2024 Limited Edition guitar crafted by Giacomo merges impeccable artistry with superior acoustic qualities, making it a standout instrument capable of handling any concert setting. It boasts remarkable volume and projection, allowing musicians to fully explore its dynamic range while maintaining the organic, resonant quality characteristic of a traditional guitar. An innovative soundport enhances the player's auditory experience, providing immediate feedback on the sound produced, which enriches performance. Additionally, the aesthetic of this guitar is particularly striking, featuring a unique rosette composed of various designs Giacomo has utilized throughout his career. This detail not only adds visual appeal but also tells a story of the luthier's evolving artistic journey, making each performance with this guitar a visually and sonically captivating experience.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
