Gerold Karl Hannabach wurde 1928 in Schönbach (heute: Luby, Tschechien) geboren und wuchs in einer Familie von Saitenmachern auf. Mit 17 Jahren musste er seine Heimat verlassen und folgte anderen Schönbachern nach Bubenreuth, wo er eine Lehre als Zupfinstrumentenbauer bei Arnold Hoyer begann. Im Jahre 1953 schloss er diese ab und gründete seine eigene Werkstatt. 1966 bestand er die Prüfung als Gitarrenbaumeister und war seitdem als Dozent für Musikinstrumentenbau bei verschiedenen Institutionen tätig. Außerdem erhielt er für seine Arbeit zahlreiche Auszeichnungen, darunter das Bundesverdienstkreuz. Gerold Karl Hannabach baute zu Lebzeiten mehr als 4000 Instrumente und gehört zu den berühmtesten deutschen Gitarrenbauern.
Wir präsentieren euch die letzte Gitarre, die der Meister vor seinem Tod gebaut hat. Es handelt sich hierbei um eine hübsche, kleine, energetische Terzgitarre mit kunstvoll geschnitzter Kopfplatte und einem direkten, klaren Klang. Die Decke ist aus Fichte, Boden und Zargen sind aus Indischem Palisander. Die Mechaniken sind von Rubner. Ein Hartschalenkoffer ist inklusive.
