Overview
Gerold Hannabach (1928-2015) was born in Schönbach, Czechoslovakia, in a music instruments makers family. In 1948, he started his apprenticeship in Arnold Hoyer’s workshop in Bubenreuth. He then opened his own workshop for classical guitars and for resale in 1953. He passed the examination as a master guitar maker in 1966 and started working as a lecturer for musical instrument making at various institutions. In addition, he was a prolific guitar maker and received numerous awards for his work, including the Federal Cross of Merit. Gerold Karl Hannabach is one of the most famous German guitar makers.
This great concert model made in 1976, number 337, is exceptionally well preserved. It is paired with its original Meinl case, an authentic brochure from Hannabach, and precious Landstorfer/Reischl tuners in perfect working condition. Flawlessly built, this guitar has the traditional Hannabach look with a particularly elaborated head plate. The sound is remarkably balanced and the sustain striking, especially on the first string. It is overall a lovely guitar, part of the rich tradition of German guitar making.
