Froggy Bottom - 2009 SJ-LTD

Froggy Bottom - 2009 SJ-LTD

Overview

Millard brings a unique perspective and set of skills to the task of building individual instruments for individual musicians. In 1970, Michael built his first Froggy Bottom Guitar in his apartment on New York’s Lower East Side. He bent the guitar’s sides on the ‘hot pipe’ – a heat riser running through his kitchen to the floors above.

Over the course of fifty years of instrument building handmade custom guitars Froggy Bottom make one guitar at a time. At Froggy Bottom, they have not lusted to increase their guitar output year after year. Their connection to each instrument and player would suffer. Instead, they strive to get each instrument to exceed the hopes and expectations of its player, to open new territory for them and to satisfy and expand their musical lives. Every guitar is a custom guitar.

This wonderful SJ is made out of Macassar Ebony and the legendary Adirondack spruce also referred to as red spruce due to the slight redish glow. The sound is strong and powerful with a lot of sustain, as a player you can drive the guitar hard as it has lots of headroom. • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
