Fritz Ober - 2018

Fritz Ober - 2018

Overview

Fritz Ober was born in Rosenheim in 1955 and learned to play the guitar at an early age. He built his first instruments in the 70’s based on guitar building books. Later he trained with the instrument maker Helmut Buchsteiner and initially focused on the construction of lutes. According to his own statements, the skills he acquired were decisive for his approach to guitar making, which was inspired by old masters such as Antonio de Torres.

This remarkable instrument stands as one of the final creations by the legendary luthier Fritz Ober, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship both aesthetically and acoustically. The materials selected for this guitar are of the highest quality, featuring CITES-certified Brazilian rosewood, a rarity in contemporary guitar making due to its limited availability. The visual and tactile allure of the wood, combined with its acoustic properties, makes this guitar a collector's dream. It is designed to deliver a sound that is as beautiful as the instrument itself, with a balance and evenness across all registers that few guitars can match. The interplay between the crisp trebles and profound basses achieves a near-perfect harmony, making each note resonate with clarity and depth.

Acoustically, this guitar exemplifies what many consider to be the epitome of sound craftsmanship. Its ability to articulate a wide palette of colors and rich timbres allows for a highly expressive performance, suitable for any playing context. Whether in a quiet, intimate setting or a large concert hall, the guitar's power and dynamic range are more than sufficient to captivate any audience. Revered as one of the best modern interpretations of traditional guitar craftsmanship, this instrument not only reflects the skill and passion of Fritz Ober but also serves as a benchmark for future generations of luthiers. It is a true testament to the enduring legacy of a master craftsman, blending the old with the new in a seamless, melodious expression of musical artistry.

Fritz Ober 2018 Classical Guitar Review

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
