Fernando Mazza - 2024 REG 2024 Limited Edition Lattice

Fernando Mazza - 2024 REG 2024 Limited Edition Lattice

Overview

Fernando Mazza is a successful guitar maker born in Argentina. After a career as a guitarist, he dedicated himself to classical guitar making and opened his workshop in Arezzo, Italy. Fernando Mazza’s guitars are easily recognized by their meticulous construction and beautiful rosette, reminiscent of the arches of the famous Palazzo Ducale in Venice. He builds guitars in the Australian lattice tradition, combining extremely stiff laminated backs and sides with a highly responsive lattice top. In addition, Fernando Mazza also builds a Nomex double top model with lattice bracing that offers even more projection and spontaneity.

Luthier Fernando Mazza presents the REG 2024 Limited Edition guitar at the Roma Expo Guitar 2024, featuring his innovative Lattice Bracing construction model. This exceptional guitar is equipped with a red cedar soundboard reinforced with balsa wood and carbon fiber bracing, with varying thicknesses from 2.3 mm to 1 mm. Fernando Mazza has meticulously studied and developed the balance between the amount of carbon used and the thickness of the wood to ensure that the guitar delivers a balanced, powerful, and natural sound, enriched with harmonics and sustain. The sides of the guitar are crafted from a combination of Santos rosewood and maple, a pairing that provides increased rigidity and contributes to a stable structure that significantly enhances the volume.

The back of the guitar is made from Santos rosewood veneer paired with Nomex, a choice that results in a back that is rigid, yet light and highly flexible. This strategic combination of rigidity and flexibility in the guitar's harmonic box optimizes the use of the vibrational energy from the strings, ensuring a full and resonant sound. The Santos rosewood, sourced from Brazil, is carefully selected for its unique and irreplaceable wood grains, adding to the distinctiveness of each guitar. Through these meticulous design choices, Fernando Mazza's Limited Edition guitar embodies a fusion of traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology, making it capable of handling the broadest range of musical expressions with ease.

Fernando Mazza 2024 Lattice REG 2024 Classical Guitar Review

While this guitar is sold, these are ready for you

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
