Domingo Esteso - 1931 Blanca

Domingo Esteso - 1931 Blanca

Overview

Domingo Esteso Lopez was born in San Clemente in 1882. He was one of the most important luthiers of the early 20th century. In the 1890′s, he began his apprenticeship at the workshop of Manuel Ramirez in Madrid. There, he worked along with Modesto Borreguero, Santos Hernandez, etc. In the year after the death of Manuel Ramirez (1864 – 1916) he worked for the widow of M. Ramirez. In 1917, Domingo Esteso opened his workshop in the Calle Gravina in Madrid. In 1926, his nephew Faustino Conde joined the workshop, followed three years later by his brother Mariano Conde and eventually Julio Conde. When Domingo Esteso died in 1937, the three brothers kept building under „Vda y Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso“.

Introducing the exquisite 1931 Domingo Esteso Blanca guitar, a stunning example of early 20th-century craftsmanship. This remarkable instrument beautifully encapsulates the essence of its time while still delivering a highly satisfying playing experience for the modern guitarist. Retaining its authentic charm, this guitar has undergone only one modification: the masterful removal of the golpeador by Gabriele Lodi. The instrument's French polish has also been carefully refreshed, enhancing its enduring sophistication without altering its original character, also by Gabriele Lodi.

Despite its age, the 1931 Domingo Esteso guitar remains structurally sound. The soundboard features four repaired and cleated cracks, with two of them reinforced by thin wooden slats. The back also bears two glued cracks, all of which have been meticulously stabilized and restored by skilled professionals. Weighing in at a mere 1115 grams, this lightweight guitar offers a highly enjoyable playing experience. Its main resonance of F/F# is characterized by rich, dark bass notes and delicate, airy trebles, contributing to a captivating tonal balance. The instrument is further distinguished by its flamenco-style wooden pegheads, a nod to the traditional Spanish aesthetic.

A true collector's item, the 1931 Domingo Esteso guitar is more than just an instrument; it is a piece of art that will effortlessly complement any playing style. Don't miss the chance to own a part of musical history with this extraordinary guitar.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
