Daryl Perry - 2022 No. 243

Daryl Perry - 2022 No. 243

Overview

Here is a beautiful guitar from the Winnipeg, Canada, based luthier Daryl Perry. Since 1982, Daryl focussed on building stringed instruments and is today one of Canada’s finest makers for classical guitars. He works in the tradition of the great masters of the nineteenth and twentieth century, using mostly hand tools and giving special attention to the properties of each single piece of wood. Great guitarists such as Marcin Dylla play on Daryl’s guitars and his instruments are in great demand worldwide.

This lovely guitar by Daryl Perry draws heavily on historical influences and places them in a modern context. It demonstrates a deep commitment to building the best possible instrument, one with the potential allowing the music to unfold to its fullest. The well-aged spruce top is a feast for the eyes, not to mention the beautiful Birdseye maple back and sides, making for a stunning combination. Acoustically, this brand-new guitar captivates with its striking individuality. The airy and colourful sounding basses, in combination with the wonderfully singing and lush trebles, seem as if they had their own story to tell. This instrument is able to enrich every piece of music to a high degree due to its expressiveness.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
