Daryl Perry - 2017

Daryl Perry - 2017

Overview

Here is a beautiful guitar from the Winnipeg, Canada, based luthier Daryl Perry. Since 1982, Daryl focussed on building stringed instruments and is today one of Canada’s finest makers for classical guitars. He works in the tradition of the great masters of the nineteenth and twentieth century, working mostly with hand tools and giving special attention to the properties of each single piece of wood. Great guitarists such as Marcin Dylla play on Daryl’s guitars and his instrument are now rare and very requested.
This very guitar is an absolute masterpiece. In excellent condition, this guitar only has some scarce playing marks and two string marks behind the bridge. It is Daryl’s personal Concert Model, gathering strong historical influence and solid understanding of the needs of today’s guitarists. The beautifully coloured top wears subtle bear claws on the lower bout and a magnificent four pieces Indian rosewood back closes the guitar body making it an aesthetically grandiose instrument. This is a very light and responsive guitar which gives an intense feedback to the body when played. The sound colours and the complex tone quality are consistent from pianissimo to fortissimo in all registers. It is overall a brilliant instrument that will fulfil the highest requirements of any guitar aficionado.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
