Daniel Friederich - Lefthand 1994

Daniel Friederich - Lefthand 1994

Overview

Daniel Friederich was born on the sixteenth of January 1932. Although having the strong wish to play the guitar, he had to face a shortage of money. However, at the age of 23, Friederich solved this dilemma by building his first guitar himself: a copy of a Simplicio guitar. At the beginning, Friederich was helped by his guitar teacher Christian Aubin. After having bought tools and gathered some guitar making experiences, Friederich showed his fifteenth guitar to Robert Bouchet. Ever since, R. Bouchet inspired his work. He personally developed some ideas of R. Bouchet during his career. For decades, Daniel Friederich has been one of the most important luthiers in the world. In 2015, he stopped building guitars and sold all his tools.
At the beginning of his career, Daniel Friederich was building mostly spruce-top guitars. That changed in the 1970’s as he devoted his production to the construction of cedar-top guitars. This Friederich guitar is a very rare lefthand model of this second period. It was made in 1994 and is in very good condition: it only has some marking on the top and a very little ding below the bridge. It has no structural cracks. As its fellow Friederich right-handed instruments, this guitar is a master instrument of the higher level. It features all the results of the researches Daniel Friederich devoted his life to. It is a perfectly balanced guitar with an even and homogeneous sound level and sound quality all along the fingerboard. It is very comfortable to play and to listen to. An amazing chance for a demanding left-handed guitar player. The original tuners are made by Fustero. A Hiscox Pro II case is included.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
