About the luthier: Daniel Friederich was born on January 16th in 1932. At the age of 23 years he built his first instrument (a copy of a Simplicio), because he wanted to learn to play the guitar. His guitar teacher Christian Aubin and the painter and guitar builder Robert Bouchet had a great influence on his work and Friederich developed their ideas further. For decades now, Friederich has been one of the world’s most important luthiers and his guitars are played all over the world.
Early in his career, he built some guitars with spruce top, but this changed in 1974 when he finally devoted himself mainly to guitars with cedar top (with only few exceptions that were built on special request. This guitar is one of the examples with a cedar top and is in very good condition. This guitar has a lot of strength and a rich tone of cedar and at the same time the clarity and sustain of spruce.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
