Daniel Friederich - 1971

Daniel Friederich - 1971

Overview

Daniel Friederich was born on the sixteenth of January 1932. Although he had a strong desire to play the guitar, he lacked money. But at the age of 23, Friederich solved this dilemma by building his first guitar himself: a copy of a Simplicio guitar. Daniel's guitar teacher and excellent guitar maker, Christian Aubin, was a great help to him. After building tools and gaining some experience in guitar making, Daniel Friederich showed his fifteenth guitar to Robert Bouchet. Since then, Robert Bouchet has inspired his work, and Daniel Friederich has personally developed some of R. Bouchet's ideas throughout his career.

For decades, Daniel Friederich was one of the most important and respected active luthiers in the world. After a long and successful career, he stopped making guitars in 2015 and sold all his tools. Today, he is undoubtedly one of the most respected and admired guitar makers in history. Daniel Friederich built this fascinating guitar with the number 286 in 1971 and It is one of his first instruments with double sides.

Compared to other 1971 Daniel Friederich guitars with spruce tops we had the pleasure to present before, this guitar shows interesting features of Daniel Friederich's instruments of the late 60s. It has a lighter construction, a leaner and more ergonomic neck, and a thinly crafted, super responsive top. The combination of the double-sides and the elaborate fan-bracing with a Bouchet-bar makes this rare Friederich guitar with a spruce top an absolute masterpiece of grace, elegance, and refinement.

The structural condition of this guitar is like day one, only the varnish on the top has been refreshed and most importantly it is absolutely crack free. Some playing marks are visible on the top and only superficial signs of use are visible on the neck, back and sides. This sensational guitar is in perfect playing condition and the original tuners have been upgraded to high quality Rodgers.

What a sound! This is definitely one of the most inspiring guitars a guitarist can dream of. The quality of the tone is brought to absolute perfection, and the warmth of the treble is simply incredible. Playing comfort, timbre spectrum, three-dimensional sound, clear projection, it is all there, within this wonderful concert model number 286.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
