Overview
This is a wonderful guitar made by Carlo Guadagnini, dated 1802 on label. Carlo was the elder of the two sons of Jean Baptise Guadanini, the younger being “Gaetano”. Due to the sudden interest in ‘the guitar’, the two sons were encouraged to build guitars in the Turin workshop. This guitar is a very important piece of history. It has a very strong and beautiful sound that is remarkable for its size. The finish is original. One can see it has a slight green tinge, being that of the same used by the Father, Jean Baptise Guadagnini. The top is made of spruce. The back and sides are pear wood, the fingerboard is made of ebony and frets are bone. The label is clear and easy to read. The guitar has all its own original frets and bridge. It is playable and is strung with medium tension nylon strings. This guitar is a must for anyone who wishes to perform music of this era or who has a collection of 19th century guitars. This instrument has been carefully looked after and cherished. It is a piece of history which one can enjoy playing and is an amazing investment. The guitar comes in a custom-made case in the style of the era, lined with Italian woven cloth.
