Overview
Brian Itzkin is a luthier native of New York, USA. He built his first guitar at the age of 13. After gaining experience in both classical and acoustic guitar building, Brian Itzkin joined the workshop of the renowned Stephen Hill in Herradura, Spain to further develop his skills under the guidance of the master.
This original concert model is heavily inspired in both shape and proportion by a mid-1960s Bouchet and 1880s Antonio de Torres. The strutting system is Brian's latest interpretation of the Bouchet/Granada system, and this gorgeous instrument features three rosewoods: Guatemalan (Dalbergia cubilquitzensis) for the back, sides, and head plate, Madagascar (Dalbergia Baronii) for the bridge, and Brazilian Kingwood (Dalbergia Cearensis) for the bindings. Another interesting feature is the rather thin Arias-inspired fretboard that looks wonderful and provides playability reminiscent of romantic guitars with flush fretboards.
Soundwise, this guitar really impressed us with its openness and responsiveness. It is effortless to play and reacts faithfully to the stroke, allowing crazy dynamic changes and showing a vivid, colorful, and rich tone.
