Antonius Müller - 2013 Doubletop

Antonius Müller - 2013 Doubletop

Overview

Antonius Müller was born in 1960 in Taunus. After finishing secondary school in 1976, he began a three-year apprenticeship with Dieter Hopf under the guidance of Dragan Musulin and concluded it in 1979. After completing his military service, he returned to work for Dieter Hopf and Reinholt Seiffert, where he also met Franz Ulrich Albert. After receiving his master diploma, together with Franz Ulrich Albert he opened a workshop under the name "Albert & Müller". Today, Antonius Müller's double-top guitars have become highly sought after, not only among professional artists because of their sound and expressiveness and their dynamic range, and therefore the waiting time for a new guitar is 12 years.

This double top guitar was built in 2013 by Antonius Müller. The top is made of dark Canadian cedar. Back and sides are made of beautifully grained Indian rosewood and sealed with a thin layer of nitrocellulose lacquer, while the top is finished with shellac polish. This instrument was played professionally over the past years, and therefore wears some superficial playing marks on the top. Nevertheless, it is in perfect structural condition and developed an absolutely astonishing sound over the years.

It is incredible how little effort one needs to put into the right hand when playing this guitar, in order to produce a room-filling tone, so that the player has the feeling to be completely surrounded by the sound of this instrument. It convinces by a warm dark character and very good separation of the voices. In addition, the balance between bass and treble is also consistently even. A really wonderful and inspiring instrument that brings a lot of satisfaction and supports the player in every respect.

  • Classical Guitar

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
