Antonio Durán - 1986 Flamenca

Antonio Durán - 1986 Flamenca

Overview

Antonio Durán lived from 1940 until 2007 and learned the art of lutherie from Eduardo Ferrer. In 1958 he married Eduardo Ferrer’s daughter and started working in his own workshop. He developed his own bracing system. Some of his students were Juan Lopez Aguilarte, Antonio Velazquez Reinosa and Rafael Moreno Aguilar. The top of this beautiful guitar is made of spruce wood. The rosette is designed in red and black and playfully ornamented with mosaics. The top and the two-piece back are framed with dark ebony inlays. Back and ribs consist of Indian Rosewood. The neck is made of mahogany and the fingerboard consists of ebony. The guitar is easily playable and has a direct response. A typical sound for flamenco guitars from Granada.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
