Paul Hildebrandt

Paul Hildebrandt is a gifted young luthier from Rostock whose early fascination with crafting, woodwork, and musical instruments naturally led him to guitar making. After formative experiences with cello and guitar, a visit to a violin maker sparked his dedication to the craft. In 2021 he completed his apprenticeship as a plucked-instrument maker at the renowned Klingenthal School of Musical Instrument Making, earning first place in the national German craftsmanship competition. He is currently expanding his expertise through academic studies in Markneukirchen, continuing his path within one of Germany’s richest instrument-making traditions.

Paul Hildebrandt – Guitar Maker

Paul Hildebrandt, born in Rostock, discovered his passion for crafting, tinkering, and inventing at an early age. His fascination with wood and numerous DIY projects soon developed into a deep appreciation for musical instruments. Beginning with the cello in primary school and later the guitar as a teenager, Paul’s interest in music grew steadily.

A pivotal moment in his life was visiting a violin maker, which sparked a lifelong fascination with the art of instrument building and inspired him to pursue this profession. In 2021, Paul completed his apprenticeship as a plucked instrument maker at the Klingenthal School of Musical Instrument Making and graduated as the best of his class, earning first prize in the national German craftsmanship competition.

He is currently expanding his expertise through academic studies in musical instrument making in Markneukirchen, a town renowned for its long-standing tradition in this field. Paul Hildebrandt’s path reflects his passion, talent, and deep commitment to the craft of guitar making.
