Matthias Hartig

Matthias “Matteo” Hartig is a German luthier from Glattbach in Lower Franconia who—much like Robert Bouchet—discovered his true vocation in guitar making in his forties. Deeply inspired by the sound of historical masters such as Torres, Enrique Garcia, Antonio Emilio Pascual, and Richard Jacob “Weißgerber,” he crafts instruments with great precision and respect for tradition. Matteo follows classic building methods, relying almost exclusively on bone glue and shellac, creating guitars that are firmly rooted in the heritage of traditional lutherie.
