About the Guitar Maker
José Salinas’ journey into guitar making is deeply rooted in his early connection to both flamenco music and woodworking. His father, a skilled carpenter, instilled in him a love for working with wood, and José spent seven years learning the craft in his father’s workshop in Almería. This foundation, combined with his deep involvement in flamenco as a “Cantaor” (flamenco singer), inspired him to see the guitar as the perfect union of his two passions – music and craftsmanship.
During a tour in the United States, José met luthier Arcadio Marín, who encouraged him to pursue guitar making. Motivated by this encounter, he began studying traditional Spanish guitar-making methods and soon dedicated himself fully to the craft.
In 2014, he opened his own workshop in Málaga, where he now builds handcrafted Spanish guitars that reflect the essence of Spain’s rich musical and artistic heritage. Each instrument combines his profound understanding of flamenco sound with his refined woodworking skills, resulting in guitars of exceptional tonal depth and character.
From the careful selection of tonewoods to the final polish, José’s instruments embody the spirit of Spanish tradition – guitars that unite beauty, craftsmanship, and the expressive soul of music. His workshop in Málaga stands as a testament to his commitment to creating guitars that merge the warmth of fine wood with the passion of Spanish sound.
